Hot Toys Christopher Reeve Superman in 2010

Merely typing this post sends tingles down my spine.

Christopher Reeve as Superman

The news was announced by no less than Hot Toys‘ main man Howard Chan himself in the latest issue of Milk magazine and highlighted at Sideshow Freaks forum.

My wishlist of accompanying accessories for this figure includes:

1) Clark Kent head with removable glasses, hat, suit, trenchcoat and briefcase. If the hat will be oversized on his head, then give a head that comes sculpted with the hat, ala Sideshow’s Indy, along with a hat accessory.

2) One Superman tee, similar to what came with Brandon Routh’s Clark Kent for shirt ripping fun & poses.

Pantless Hot Toys Supes is sporting the tee I am referring to.

3) A crystal and kryptonite.

I wouldn’t be too unhappy if they skipped the last accessories in the list though. But the first two are a must!

Hot Toys Superman Returns was my very first Hot Toys figure in 2006, and I preordered without seeing the actual product. What a figure it turned out to be, for it’s time.

In my review then, I wished for a Hot Toys Christopher Reeve Superman. It’s great when such dreams are realised.

When the Hot Toys 2-in-1 Superman Returns Version was released, I bought two of them…

…along with Jor-El,

I hope Hot Toys releases Jor-El in his black costume…

…as it would be a nice accompanying figure to the first Hot Toys Jor-El

…and a great sculpt which most likely opened the door to Hot Toys Don Vito Corleone.

For old times’ sake, here’s a look back at Hot Toys Superman 2-in-1 Version.

Really looking forward to this, hope it hits before the end of 2010.

  1. This is it! The moment we've all been waiting for bro!!! Christopher Reeve finally will be immortalised in his Hot Toys glory!!!!!!!I like your suggestion on Jor-El too! Let's hope the both of em gets announced before mid 2010!For the record, one of my greatest regret ever since becoming a 1/6 collector (though not many as my 6") is having failed to get my hands on HT's 2-in-1 Superman. I was on a toy-collecting hiatus (got myself posted outstation at that point of time) in '06…and have been praying that one day a Christopher Reeve ver. will eventually get released! Thank you HT!

  2. I hope they do a better job with the Reeve likeness than they did with Routh. I never thought they captured Routh very well.

  3. So psyched about this! When do you think we can expect pics? Also, I'm surprised you haven't done a review of Mattel's 12inch General Zod figure.

  4. Yes! Thanks for sharing the news first! I think ht can add a phonebooth accessory…like the way Enterbay is doing with their Bruce Lee figures…then again, those Lee figures costs 2x or even 3x a HT figure does.

  5. @The Rebel: Really happy this is happening. Brush away all the regret you've been having abt 2-in-1 Supes as this is THE Superman fig to own.@jason: You're right the previous versions looked rather generic@supes78: I think mid year would be a the latest we can expect pix. Erm, I didn't get Zod at all.@Louie: You're welcome Louie. Great idea on the phone booth accessory! Hasbro actually provided a cardboard phonebooth with their 8" Mego type Clark Kent/Supes set years ago. It HT provides even a cardboard phone booth, it would be way cool.

  6. This is a fantastic news ! Sure I'll get it… Although I now have my home made Chris Reeve Life size :)http://www.ilestemps.com/cedblog/?p=485
