Kaelen at 3 Weeks Old

Kaelen at 3 Weeks Old

Here you are at three weeks, son. Mum and Dad were overjoyed to receive the report on your blood test which showed you have breastfeeding jaundice, which will not affect your health unduly, and the best thing is that Mum can continue to breast feed you.

This also means Mum gets more rest in the mornings, as she has been religiously sun bathing you at 8am. Mum is a great woman, Kaelen, she has been very dedicated in feeding and taking care of you. Always love and treasure her.

You have infant acne and the PD has given us a cream to apply to your face to keep it at bay. The little blood clot at your left eye has gone away too.

You are growing so fast. We went to the PD on Friday and you are already 3.9+ kg, which means you’ve put on a 100g every week. Your neck is exceptionally strong as you can lift your head up and turn left to right even in a prone position. Your teeth are starting to show at the tip of your gums and you can even turn your body slightly, which gave us a bit of cause for alarm.

You like bath time with us and no longer scream like you did as on the first day you bathed at home. Mum and Dad have mastered the art and speed of bathing you, to keep you clean and avoid catching a cold.

You are very awake during the day and your sleep pattern seems to have settled down. You now need to be rocked to sleep by Mum or Dad. However, once we put you down on you cot, you immediately wake up, sometimes with a cheeky smile as if to say, “Gotcha!”.

The latest song on your lullaby list that works at getting you to sleep is ‘The Fields of Anfield Road’, which Dad takes great delight in singing it to you in a Scottish accent.

Outside the Shankly Gates
I heard a Kopite calling
Shankly they have taken you away
But you left a great eleven
Before you went to heaven
Now it’s glory round the Fields of Anfield Road.

All round the Fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and he could play)
We had Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
Of the glory round the Fields of Anfield Road

Outside the Paisley Gates
I heard a Kopite calling
Paisley they have taken you away
You led the great 11
Back in Rome in 77
And the Redmen they are still playing the same way
All round the Fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and he could play)
We had Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
Of the glory round the Fields of Anfield Road
