Singapore, 21 July 2011 – Comic book heavyweight DC Comics will be making its first appearance in South East Asia at the upcoming Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC), 20 and 21 August 2011 at Suntec Singapore. Headlining the arrival of DC Comics at STGCC is Mr Paul Levitz, who served as President of DC Comics from 2002 to 2009 and is a renowned comic book writer and editor.
Mr Levitz, currently Senior Advisor and Contributing Editor at DC, was one of the key talents responsible for the hiring of notable, award-winning comic book writers including Marv Wolfman, John Byrne and Alan Moore, as well as artists George Pérez and Keith Giffen
Come Face to Face with DC Comics’ Paul Levitz at the STGCC Walk of Fame
Mr Levitz is the latest name to join the exciting line-up of guest personalities at the STGCC Walk of Fame, who will be appearing at the two-day convention as a Guest of Honour.
Notably known for his work for DC Comics, where he has written for most of their classic characters and series including the Justice Society, Superman (in both comics and the newspaper strip), and an acclaimed run on The Legion of Super-Heroes, a series he has recently returned to. Serving as the company’s youngest editor, he also oversaw the Batman line of comics.
DC Comics has recently issued a new hardcover edition of Levitz’s Legion of Super-Heroes: The Great Darkness Saga, voted by readers one of the 20 best comic stories of the last century, and a hardcover collection of his new stories, Legion of Super-Heroes: The Choice, both of which made the New York Times’ Graphic Books Bestseller List. Cumulatively, Mr Levitz has written over 300 stories with sales of over 25 million copies, and translations into over 20 languages. Another of Levitz’s recent projects was the release of his book 75 Years of DC Comics: The Art of Modern Mythmaking, a 720-page tome chronicling DC’s rise, published by Taschen.
“It’s been a lifetime pleasure to have fans across the world,” said Levitz. “And I’m excited to be travelling to the furthest comic convention I’ve ever gone to in order to meet some of them.”
Levitz will be appearing at STGCC on 20 and 21 August. He will be meeting fans and signing autographs at the DC Comics booth and STGCC Walk of Fame as well as speaking about his lifelong career and current projects at forums.
